Recent work:1. Carbs. rebuilt professionally about 2 years ago2. Fuel tank cleaned 3. Newer battery- $200 sealed cell unit
At my friend’s request, a few months ago I charged the battery, checked the fluids, and attempted to start the bike. It started immediately, but the carbs. seemed like they need some adjusting as it took a while before I could turn off the choke. It sounded smooth, with no appreciable leaks. It did smoke a little for the first minute or so, but cleared out reasonably. Up on revving, it sounded smooth and powerful. The bike was run for less than 5 minutes. That being said, I am sure that one would want to give this a very complete service and inspection before trying to operate it. The fuel tank was drained and the carbs. run dry for storage. The new owner will have to recommission it after purchase. I believe these are reasonably complex motorcycles.
Overall condition seems great, with a few scratches in the original paint, but nothing major. Overall, the finish shows quite well. The rest of the bike is in very nice condition, indicating the low miles.. It has been stored inside since new. Keep in mind, this is a original, unrestored bike that has never been professionally detailed, it’s just in great condition.. NOTE** Front lower fairing vertical panels are missing, please see photos…
This CBX comes with a clean California title in my friend’s name. My friend has been collecting motorcycles for many years and has over 40 vintage bikes in his warehouse, including Harley, Indian, Honda, Kawasaki, BSA, Moto Guzzi, Terrot, etc…. I will be eventually listing all of them a couple at a time as he really can’t deal with them anymore. I am not knowledgeable on motorcycles, just helping my elderly friend.. However, I think this is a really nice classic Honda in really a unique condition for a original. A little mechanical tinkering and some careful maintenance and you can be cruising the road on a very rare, vintage CBX.
